On January 14-15, 2008, the Governor's
Council on Developmental Disabilities partnered with the Sonoran University
Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities to offer employers
throughout the state the opportunity to gain information about the benefits of
hiring people with disabilities. Employers also received important information
about supporting people with disabilities in the workplace.
The two day event was attended by over forty employers from various parts of
Arizona, as well as an additional thirty participants from a variety of
backgrounds (self advocates, family members, service provider agencies, etc.).
In an effort to reach unserved & underserved populations in Arizona, we have
elected to post the content, in its entirety,to our website. We expect this will
allow employers statewide, who were unable to attend this conference, the
benefit of making use of this important information.
In addition, the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities has committed
to sponsoring similar training events throughout the state in the coming months.
